Don’t let the Claims on Front Fool You

_auto_generated_thumb_Pratap Public School, Jarnailly  Colony, Karnal organised a webinar on ‘How to Read Labels and Not to Get Misled by Food Industry' on November 14,2021 focusing on how to overcome the marketing tricks of food industry and buy better.

The session was conducted by the clinical dietitian Deepta Nagpal, Founder at BEYOND INCHES AND KILOS, Zagreb, Croatia (Europe). She has worked with AIIMS (New Delhi), PGIMER (Chandigarh)

and Army Research and Referral Hospital in New Delhi. She had been a diet counselor to Late Dr APJ Abdul Kalam and has over 15 years of experience in the field.

In this session, she vehemently emphasized that health claims on packaged food are designed to catch the customer’s attention but how actually they mislead them. One of the best tips she gave was to study the ingredients list thoughtfully and not to be lured by the claims on the front of the packaging.

In the  question answer session, she elaborated on how sedentary lifestyle and extensive intake of high calorie food is responsible for the obesity crisis. She exhorted the young learners to follow healthy eating habits.She strongly recommended home cooked food and suggested preparation of food according to the principles of nutrition.

Hon’ble Director Principal ma’am Poonam Navet urged the students to follow the right eating habits and to lead a healthy lifestyle.

The session attended by the staff, parents and students proved to be highly rewarding and brought nutritional awareness among them.
